What are some of the famous eruptions that have occured?
Mt. Vesuvius erupting!
Mt. Vesuvius is located in southern Italy and has erupted over 30 times! The worst eruption was in A.D. 79, when the ash of the volcano covered the cities of Pompeii and Stabiae. Krakota is another volcano located in the Indonesian islands. In 1883 the volcano's power was 13,000 times the power of an atomic bomb. After the eruption scientist later spotted an island close to the volcano eruption in 1927. It was named "Anak Krakatoa" and "Child of Krakatoa". Why do people live near volocanos?
City living next to Mt. Vesuvius.
People live near volocanos fo many reasons. They live near volcanos, because they get heat from the earths's energy(geothermal), minerals can be mixed when the lava is cool, healthy crops grow, and the crops have fertile soil to grow. Some of the minerals that get carried by the lava when it cools can be gold, silver, diamonds, copper, and zinc. These are some examples of why people live near volcanos.
How do volcanos affect people?
Volcanos affect people by burning down their civilization and houses. They affect people by killing them with the fumes and poisonous gasses they throw out. Lava also burns people and can cover them with volcanic rock. Volcanos can burn threw everthing and might break threw valuables. Another way volcanos might affect people is because they might ruin the landscape were people live. They could also affect crops that grow in people's fields. Some good affects are the lava providing nutrients for the soil and once the lava cools it gives minerals to the soil and crops.
Why do volcanos erupt?
Lava gushing out of volcano
Volcanos erupt, because of how much magma there is undegorund, it floods making the volcanoe erupt. When the lava runs out of the volcanos, it somtimes the spurts out lava. Melted rock called magma, is underground and when the magma comes out of the volcano it will destroy everything in it's path. Lava makes ashes and poisonous gas, which pours out, onto the land. Volcanos form, because the tectonic plates collide on top of each other and form a volcano.
